Department of Waste
Transportation
The main scope of activities of the Town Operating Public Utility
Company Department of Waste Transportation includes the collection and
transportation of the solid municipal waste that emerged during the normal
community, institutional and entrepreneurial operation, collected in an
isolated manner and that is suitable for recycling, as well as the
transportation of hazardous waste.
I. - We perform municipal and institutional solid
waste collection and transportation with self-compressing waste-collecting special
machine.

Our Department organises a junk-clearance campaign every year to collect waste
of such type and size that cannot be transported during the normal waste
collection.
II. Municipal
and institutional solid waste transportation with container vehicle.
In
case of transporting waste with a container, we transport waste regularly
emerging in larger quantity in case of the inhabitants and institutions (e.g.:
construction, demolition debris).
III. Regional
waste transportation
During
regional waste transportation, our Company is responsible for municipal and
industrial waste collection and transportation in Nagycserkesz and its farm
groups, Napkor, Nyírtelek, Kálmánháza, Nyírtura Nagyhalász and Újfehértó
settlements.
IV. Selective
waste transportation
Municipal
waste
o Green islands
The inhabitants can collect their waste
selectively thanks to the selective green islands established by us. On these
islands, containers for colour, white glass, plastic and paper waste are
available.
o Selective waste collection with bags, “going to
the house” method
From 1 September 2005, we made the selective
collection of paper and plastic waste more efficient for people living in
family houses by introducing selective waste collection with bags with the
“going to the house” method.
o Transportation of biowaste
The Town Operating Public Utility Company
launched the collection of degradable organic materials of plant origin at
their place of origin from 1 May 2004. The 120 l containers for the storing of
biowaste have been provided for the citizens living in family houses by the
Local Government of Nyíregyháza Town of County Rank free of charge.
Industrial, institutional selective waste
management
Our
Company has an asset and vehicle park suitable for the storing and
transportation of the recyclable waste emerged at commercial units and
factories in larger quantity and collected separately.
V. Hazardous
waste transportation
At
the Regional Waste Management Plant of the Town Operating Public Utility
Company (address: Nyíregyháza-Oros, Szállási u. 72.), the citizens’ hazardous
waste emerged in small quantity (accumulator, dry battery, stained packaging,
pesticides and their packaging, used coolers, hazardous cleaning agents and
their packaging, electronic appliances, used edible oil, waste oil) is accepted
free of charge. Hazardous waste emerged from industrial activities can also be
stored temporarily here against payment. Such refuse can be handed over at our
waste disposal premises located in Szállási Road.

of Waste Management
The
waste to be disposed of locally is taken over at the waste disposal plant of EU
standard that is equipped with technical protection and a monitoring system.
The size of this plant is 40 hectares. Hazardous waste is also collected and
stored temporarily here. Industrial and municipal recyclable refuse is prepared
for further transportation, green waste is composted.
Obtaining and preparing industrial secondary raw
material
A considerable activity of
the Department is the obtaining of secondary raw material. In this field,
building industrial and industrial recyclable waste should be distinguished.
As for building industrial
waste, concrete, brick and asphalt refuse should be mentioned, which is cut at
the plant and then used by the traffic sector for road repairs.
Other types of waste
suitable for further industrial utilisation include paper, glass and plastic
refuse.
Paper management is
confined to baling, while the glass refuse is stored until transportation.
White glass is selected if necessary.

In 2003, 1,510.97
t green waste were accepted,
of which 1,055.37 tons were utilised.
The Composting Department of the Town Operating Public Utility Company
Regional Waste Management Plant was constructed by the autumn of 2003. Upon
obtaining the licences, the composting plant started to operate in 2004.
